As the coronavirus pandemic unfolds around us, our entire world is changing in unimaginable ways. Amongst this we are seeing inspirational examples of leadership and generosity in response. Companies around the world are stepping up, offering help to people in need.
Here what's happening in Australia:
- Woolworths, Kmart, Target & Officeworks are offering to pay sick leave to casual staff.
- Telstra & Optus are offering free internet
- The WA government is freezing all household fees & charges
- The banks are providing various forms of relief (please see link below for more details)

More is needed, yet this is a great start and is an example of how businesses are considering more than just profit to how they can help those in need. Once we eventually get through this, my hope is that more businesses will recognize that we are all interconnected. That true prosperity is where all stakeholders thrive. And that business is key to solving some of the world’s greatest problems. Now, more than ever, the world requires the robust and scalable power of finance. Hopefully, we will come out of this crisis with a greater awareness of the value of life.
